A tool for text that shouldn't stick around.
TxtVanish does one job: it gets a piece of text from you to someone else, and then gets out of the way.
Most of what we paste into chats and emails stays there for years: Wi-Fi passwords, door codes, API keys, a login we sent to a colleague once. TxtVanish gives that kind of text a link with an end date. The link opens once, or until the date you choose, and after that it doesn't open for anyone.
What it does
- Self-destructing links. After one view, after a set number of views, after an hour, a day, a week, a month, on a date you pick, or never.
- A “Show message” step for self-destructing messages, so chat-app link previews can't use them up before your recipient sees them.
- Passwords for links that might get forwarded.
- Short codes and QR codes for moving text between your own phone and computer without logging in to anything.
- Code mode with syntax highlighting, and editable notes you can update after sharing.
- File attachments up to 10 MB, deleted after 7 days.
- A sender link that shows whether your message has been opened and lets you delete it early.
How we built it
- No accounts, and no email or phone number needed.
- Messages and files are encrypted at rest with AES-256.
- Pages that show a message load no ads, no analytics and nothing from other websites. They're never cached, and they tell search engines to stay out.
- Fonts, icons and scripts are served from our own domain.
Who runs it
TxtVanish is built and run by Lovely Pixel. It's free to use and supported by ads on its public pages, never on the pages that show your messages.
